Boil Water Order–Parr Tank

The following information was transmitted via automated phone call to all affected water accounts. Paper notices are also being distributed. Customers will be notified when this order is lifted..

Affected areas include all service lines supplied by the “Parr Tank”: Part of Sunset Drive, Woodside Court, Redwood Way, Forest Court, and Meadow Court. It affects anyone with a “4” in the second-to-last digits of their NGWC water account number.  (For example: 91850140)

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING
Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness.

Our water tank in the area served by the “Parr Tank” on Sunset emptied out overnight due to a possible main line or customer service line leak in this area of the water system. This resulted in a temporary water service disruption and pressure loss in this neighborhood. The California Department of Health Services and North Gualala Water Company are advising affected residents to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution as soon as the water service resumes.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. [This is the preferred method to assure that the water is safe to drink.]

Optional alternative to include for prolonged situations where it fits.
• An alternative method of purification for residents that do not have gas or electricity available is to use fresh liquid household bleach (Clorox, Purex, etc.). To do so, add 8 drops (or 1/4 teaspoon) of bleach per gallon of clear water or 16 drops (or 1/2 teaspoon) per gallon of cloudy water, mix thoroughly, and allow to stand for 30 minutes before using. A chlorine-like taste and odor will result from this purification procedure and is an indication that adequate disinfection has taken place.
• Water purification tablets may also be used by following the manufacturer’s instructions.

We will inform you when tests show no bacteria and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate to get the water samples test results by 12/24/2025.
