North Gualala Water Company (NGWC) and the California Department of Public Health occasionally advise customers to reduce water consumption when there are reduced flows in the Gualala River. NGWC has required minimum stream flow bypass requirements imposed on it by its water rights permit. In order to pump water from its wells located adjacent to the North Fork of the Gualala River, the Gualala River flow must be above specified levels throughout the year. The Department of Public Health — Drinking Water Program requires NGWC to pump water to serve its customers regardless of the flow in the Gualala River.
